ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crash near Huntertown that left one person with critical injuries on Wednesday. Police are trying to figure out what happened before a pickup truck and passenger vehicle collided head-on at State Road 3 and Copper Mine Passage.
It happened just before 4 p.m. and sent the driver and another passenger from the car to the hospital. The driver is listed in fair condition while the passenger has life-threatening injuries.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following:
On April 17, 2024, at approximately 3:59 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the intersection of State Road 3 at Copper Mine Passage, reference a personal injury crash involving two motor vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers and medics located three individuals with injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicated a pickup truck was northbound on State Road 3. A passenger car had been southbound on State Road 3 and attempted to turn eastbound on Copper Mine Passage. The pickup truck and passenger car collided.
A passenger from the passenger car was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver and another passenger from the passenger car were transported to a local hospital in fair condition. No occupants of the pickup truck were injured.
This incident remains under investigation.
